"His Utmost for My Highest"

Yes, the title of my website, blog, & social media is a takeoff on the title of a well-known and beloved devotional book. It isn’t meant to be a slam on that title or the author, but it is meant to draw a contrast. So much of American evangelical Christianity focuses on the response of the Christian. It emphasizes the Christian life instead of the Christ.

Having said that, I will include here some of my thoughts about our horizontal relationships and responsibilities in this life, some personal stories and even some things that may border on being political. I believe that thinking is good, differences of opinion are welcomed, dialogue is beneficial, so please take it for what it’s worth.

Some of what I write here will be new, some of it will be posts I've made in the past on Facebook or elsewhere.

Much of my thinking before I write is honed with my dear wife every morning as we drink our coffee. It’s the best part of my day. I’m grateful to her for letting me think out loud, for challenging my assumptions, correcting my errors and loving me when I get off base.

I’ve had a few friends and family ask me to compile this. It may only be read by a few and that’s okay.
