His Utmost for My Highest
His Utmost for My Highest is an independent project focused on the good news of what Jesus has already done.
The name will sound familiar. It plays off a well loved daily devotional that has helped many people for a long time. The difference is in the emphasis. This is not a criticism of Oswald Chambers or his work. It simply puts the weight in a different place. His utmost, what God has already done through His Son, for our highest good: to be brought back to Him forever.
Before people were called Lutherans they called themselves evangelicals. That word comes from the Greek for good news. An evangel is a messenger who runs into the city to announce that the battle is over and the victory is won.
Somewhere along the way the meaning changed. For a lot of people today it no longer first means an announcement of what Christ accomplished for us. It has come to sound more like coaching, pressure to improve, promote particular values or vote a particular way or some list of things we need to do better. The result is that many end up confused or tired.
His Utmost for My Highest exists to push back against the confusion and tiredness.
We want to talk about the relief of the cross without the usual extras. No moral checklists. No five steps to a better you. No quiet shift that makes the Christian life mostly about us. The story is about Him. God gave His utmost, His only Son, so that we could be restored to our highest place: forever with Him.
This project stands on its own. It is not connected to the Oswald Chambers Publications Association or any official Chambers ministry.
If anything here helps you rest more deeply in what Jesus has already finished, you are welcome.
The good news is still good news.
Simply trying to keep the emphasis where it belongs.
